Happy Fourth of July!
Today’s the Fourth, and for all of us here in America, that of course marks the day our country got its freedom.
I am celebrating in my own small way: I’ve worked for the last 10 days straight, so today I allowed myself to sleep in as long as I wanted. Rising at 11:00 a.m., I trudged to the living room and just stood there, looking out the window. Then I took a few deep breaths.
I puttered about, enjoying the freedom to not hurry. Got measly bits of undone projects all finished and tied up neatly. Aaaahhhh. What a relief.
Cooked a leisurely breakfast (by now lunch) in the kitchen and, get this, DID NOT RUSH EATING. This may not have significance for you, but I think many can relate to the unsullied joy of chewing, not inhaling, our food. (If we eat at all.)
I am now at the computer, finishing up other tasks, working as slowly as I darn well feel like it. This evening, I think I may take a stroll around the neighborhood and count the trees, or something else unnecessary and meaningless.
A day of veg-ing is good. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY, EVERYONE!!!
